About Pullnomics

Why it exists

eBay search sorts by relevance, time or price, never by value. A $38 Charizard ex looks the same as a $58 one until you open TCGplayer in another tab, add shipping, and check the condition. Sellers’ crossed-out “was” prices are whatever they typed in. We wanted a single feed sorted by the number that matters: how far the landed price sits below an independent market price. So we built one.

How it works

• Catalog. 225 sets and promo groups and 27,873 cards, from Base through 30th Celebration: Classic Collection, plus booster boxes, Elite Trainer Boxes, bundles and packs. A separate Japanese catalog covers 30,417 cards in 455 sets, priced on their own pages. Market prices for every printing and variant (Normal, Holofoil, Reverse Holofoil) are refreshed daily from TCGplayer via TCGCSV.
• Listings. The eBay Browse API is queried every 3 hours for new Pokémon singles and sealed products. Titles are parsed for set, number, variant and condition, then matched against the catalog with a confidence score. Lots, proxies, code cards, “you pick” menus and other noise are dropped.
• Scoring. Item price plus shipping is compared with the market price for that exact printing. The market price of a card is a Near Mint price, so only a card listing stated as Near Mint is scored; played copies and listings that state no condition get no Deal Score. Listings at least 12% below market that also clear the other qualifying rules get a Deal Score from 0 to 100, weighted by confidence and, for auctions, by a 70% format weight. • Sealed EV. For boxes and bundles we compute expected pull value from published pull rates and current singles prices, and the Box value board compares each product’s expected pull value with its market price. It is arithmetic on today’s prices, not advice to open, hold or sell.

What Pullnomics is not

• Not a marketplace. We never hold inventory, take payment or ship anything. Every purchase happens on the site a button opens (eBay, TCGplayer or a store), under that site’s terms.
• Not a price guide. Market prices are TCGplayer’s, republished through TCGCSV; we add the comparison, not the baseline.
• Not a grading service, and graded cards are not scored: the site has no price baseline for graded copies, so PSA, CGC and BGS listings do not enter the deal feed. Deal Check shows a pasted graded listing with its grade and no Deal Score.
• Not owned, endorsed or sponsored by The Pokémon Company, Nintendo, Creatures, GAME FREAK, Bandai, Shueisha, Toei Animation, eBay or TCGplayer. The only paid relationship with eBay is the eBay Partner Network membership described below. See the terms.

How it is funded

Pullnomics is an eBay Partner Network affiliate. When you click an eBay button and buy, eBay may pay Pullnomics a commission; the price you pay is unchanged. Market prices come from TCGplayer, and Deal Score is computed from three things: the landed price against that market; a confidence rating that reflects the match, how clearly the condition is stated and the seller feedback; and the listing format. Auctions are weighted at 70%, partly because the bid can still rise and partly because eBay pays a commission on an auction only when the bid is placed within 24 hours of the click and the auction is won within 10 days. No display advertising runs on the site today. There are no paid placements, no sponsored deals and no seller partnerships.

Independence and corrections

No retailer, marketplace, grading company or card shop owns Pullnomics or has any say in what it publishes, and no figure on it is sponsored. Matching is done by rules and statistics, so it is occasionally wrong; when an eBay search or a match points at the wrong card, the result is wrong too. Every card and product page has a “report a problem” link, and the search and exclusion rules are tuned from those reports. Questions, corrections and takedown requests go through the contact page.
