Works with any ebay.com item link (the long ones with the title in them too) or the bare item number, for example 123456789012. We fetch the listing once, run the same match and score the feed uses, and show every number. Nothing is stored beyond a standard click log if you follow the eBay link.

What each number means

Landed price
Item price plus shipping to the US. Auctions use the current bid. When the seller uses calculated shipping we cannot see the cost, so we assume $4.99 and lower confidence. This is the number you actually pay, which is why every comparison starts here.
Market
The TCGplayer market price for the matched card in the variant the title implies (Holofoil, Normal or Reverse Holofoil; for sealed products, the product itself). Refreshed daily from TCGCSV. This is our only baseline: a seller’s own “was $X” discount is never used.
Adjusted market
Market price multiplied by a condition factor: NM 100%, LP 85%, MP 70%, HP 50%, damaged 35%, and 90% when the condition is not stated. eBay’s structured condition descriptors win over words in the title. Sealed products are not adjusted.
Below market
How far the landed price sits under the adjusted market, as a percentage. A listing needs at least 12% to qualify; 50% below earns the maximum raw score.
Deal Score
0 to 100. The raw score from the discount, multiplied by (0.5 + 0.5 × confidence), then by 0.7 for auctions because the bid can still rise. Anything the rules reject scores 0. Scores of 75 and up are marked hot; 50 to 74 good.
Confidence
How sure we are that the match, the condition and the baseline are right. It starts from the match method (set + number + name is best), then drops for unstated condition, unknown shipping, wide market spreads, sub-$10 cards, new or low-feedback sellers and multi-quantity titles. Below 50% we do not call it a deal.

What Deal Check will not score

  • Graded cards. We show the raw NM market for reference, but slabs trade at grade-dependent premiums and we do not have a graded baseline yet.
  • Lots, bulk, you-pick, mystery and playset listings, code cards, proxies, custom cards and merchandise: one price must describe one item.
  • Non-English prints. TCGplayer market prices cover English cards; Japanese and other-language cards are on different curves.
  • Listings whose title does not carry enough to identify the card. Set name plus number (as 123/456) plus card name matches reliably; a bare name rarely does.

Good to know

  • If the listing is already in our feed you will see a link to its deal entry with the full reasoning.
  • Prices implausibly far below market (under 10% of it) are rejected on purpose; they are almost always a wrong match or a scam.
  • The eBay link on the result is an affiliate link; we earn a commission if you buy, at no cost to you. The verdict does not depend on it.
