Is Perfect Order worth opening? EV, pull rates and chase cards

Verdict

Among the four small Mega Evolution sets (Phantasmal Flames, Perfect Order, Chaos Rising and Pitch Black), Perfect Order has the highest booster box EV ratio, and still no product in it holds its price in raw card value: as of October 9, 2026, ratios run from about 0.12 for a premium checklane blister to about 0.46 for a sealed six-box booster box case, with the single box at about 0.45. The booster box is the cheapest of the group at about $173, the Special Illustration Rare rate of about 1 in 80 packs is level with Phantasmal Flames for the shortest odds of the four, and the box's EV ratio of roughly 0.45 is the highest. That is still less than half of the sealed price held as raw card value: sealed product is entertainment with a resale value. The value sits in two cards. Meowth ex at about $89 and Mega Zygarde ex at about $102, their prices as of October 9, 2026, are each less than the price of a box as singles, and together they are about 40 percent of the set's summed market value.

What Perfect Order is

Perfect Order released on March 27, 2026 as the third main set of the Mega Evolution series (set code POR). The printed checklist is 88 cards, with 124 in the full set once the secret rares numbered above the printed total are included. Mega Zygarde ex is the headliner, with Mega Clefable ex, Mega Starmie ex, Yveltal ex and a standalone Meowth ex among the ex cards, plus Trainer cards for Rosa and Jacinthe.

The rarity ladder runs Double Rare (regular ex), Ultra Rare (full-art ex and Trainers), Illustration Rare (single-Pokémon art), Special Illustration Rare (alternate-art ex and Trainers) and a single Mega Hyper Rare, the gold Mega Zygarde ex at 124/88. Published pull rates also list a Mega Attack Rare slot for this set at about 1 in 40 packs, but our catalog does not break that rarity out for Perfect Order, so it contributes nothing to the EV figures below; treat them as slightly conservative.

The chase cards

All 124 cards are priced. As of October 9, 2026, the median card is about 16 cents, eight cards clear $10 and two clear $50. On September 27, 2026, Pitch Black had seven cards of $10 or more and three of $50 or more, and Chaos Rising seven and two. An earlier version of this page gave the median as about 23 cents, a figure that valued each card at its dearest printing rather than its standard one. These are the current leaders.

Unusually for a Mega set, the most expensive card is the Mega Hyper Rare rather than a Special Illustration Rare: as of October 9, 2026, the gold Mega Zygarde ex is about $102, with the Meowth ex SIR close behind at about $89. Together those two are about 40 percent of the set's summed market value (about $474 across all 124 cards). On September 27, 2026, when this page compared the sets, the same two cards were also about 40 percent of the set (about $107 and $97 of about $512), a lighter concentration than the two-card dominance in Chaos Rising or Pitch Black. The other five Special Illustration Rares are spread between about $21 (Jacinthe) and about $42 (the Zygarde SIR), with Rosa's Encouragement at about $40.20, Mega Clefable ex at about $39.70 and Mega Starmie ex at about $32. Those seven cards together hold roughly three quarters of the set's raw value.

As of October 9, 2026, the Illustration Rare Clefairy is about $12.90, and the 11 Illustration Rares average about $3.15. On September 27, 2026, the Illustration Rares ran a little above those of Chaos Rising and Pitch Black: Clefairy was about $13.30, above the top Illustration Rare in Chaos Rising (about $5.60) or Pitch Black (about $7.70). Ultra Rares average under $4, with Poké Pad at about $9.90 and the full-art Meowth ex at about $9.10 on October 9, 2026. Double Rares average about 73 cents, and the regular Meowth ex is the most expensive of them at about $2.10.

Pull rates

The source lists no rate for Double Rares in this set, so the site uses the era average of 1 in 5 packs for them, and the block labels that row "era average". The other rates below are midpoints of published pack-opening counts collected in September 2026.

Translate those to a 36-pack booster box and you should expect about four Illustration Rares (1 in 9) and three Ultra Rares (1 in 11), so essentially every box (about 99.97 percent) has at least one hit above Double Rare. The Special Illustration Rare at about 1 in 80 packs averages a little under one every two boxes; about 36 percent of boxes contain one. The Mega Hyper Rare is the catch: at about 1 in 1,400 packs it is the rarest gold card of the era, roughly one per 39 boxes.

A nine-pack Elite Trainer Box has about an 87 percent chance of at least one hit above Double Rare and roughly a 1 in 9 chance of a Special Illustration Rare.

Sealed EV

Expected value is the average raw market value of the cards inside a product, built from the pull rates above and the mean price of each rarity. Here is the live table for every Perfect Order product we track, and the sealed EV board compares every set side by side.

EV ratio is gross EV divided by the product's market price. As of October 9, 2026, a pack carries about $2.16 of expected card value, so the booster box at about $173 carries about $78, a ratio of roughly 0.45, above the roughly 30 to 35 cents of raw card value per dollar that a typical booster box on the board holds. Net EV subtracts a 15 percent marketplace fee and $1 shipping per card worth at least $1 and treats cards under $1 as bulk; for the box that is about $45, or about 0.26 of its price.

Chase share is about 44 percent, meaning a little under half of the hit EV comes from the Special Illustration Rares and the Mega Hyper Rare. Per pack, Special Illustration Rares add about 55 cents, Illustration Rares about 35 cents, Ultra Rares about 28 cents, Double Rares about 15 cents at the era average rate, and the Mega Hyper Rare about 7 cents. Since roughly 64 percent of boxes contain no SIR, the typical box lands under the $78 average, propped up by a $13 Clefairy or a $9 full-art Meowth (October 9, 2026 prices) if you are lucky. The Mega Hyper Rare's contribution to EV is real but spread across 1,400 packs: it is about $2.60 of the box average, and most boxes do not contain the card.

Break-even for the booster box is the gross EV, about $78. That gap between $78 and $173 is what you pay for the opening.

By EV per dollar, the six-box booster box case (about 0.46, about $1,006 or about $4.66 per pack) comes first and the booster box (about 0.45) second. The four-pack booster pack art bundle (about 0.37) and loose booster packs at about $6.05 (about 0.36) follow, then the booster bundle (about 0.34) and the 3-pack blister (about 0.33). The Elite Trainer Box at about $71 sits near 0.27; the Pokémon Center ETB (about 0.19) and the premium checklane blisters at about $14 to $18 for one pack (about 0.12 to 0.15) have the lowest ratios. Two other sealed cases carry an EV on the site: the 144-pack sleeved booster case at about 0.34 and the ten-box Elite Trainer Box case at about 0.29. The booster bundle case has no pack count on the site, so it carries none.

Who should open this

Players: every regular ex costs less as a single than one pack. The regular ex cards are Double Rares averaging about 73 cents; even the regular Meowth ex is about $2.10, against about $6.05 for a loose pack.

Set collectors: recomputed on October 9, 2026, the entire set summed at market is about $474, about 2.7 times the price of one booster box, and the non-chase cards are cheap. A box gives you duplicates of commons long before it gives you a Zygarde.

Chase hunters: as of October 9, 2026, the Meowth ex SIR is about $89 and the gold Zygarde about $102 as singles, each less than a box. If the six Special Illustration Rares were printed evenly, a specific one would be around a 1 in 480 pack pull, about 13 boxes, or roughly $2,310 of sealed product at the box's price of about $4.81 a pack, and the gold Zygarde is about 1 in 1,400 packs on its own, about 39 boxes.

People who like opening packs: among the four recent small sets this box is the cheapest and has the highest EV ratio, and its SIR rate is level with Phantasmal Flames for the shortest odds. A pack works out to about $4.81 in a booster box, about $6.05 loose and about $7.88 in an Elite Trainer Box, for the same $2.16 of expected card value.

How to buy it cheaper

The test for a below-market Perfect Order listing is that its landed price (item plus shipping) is at least 12 percent under market; seller "was $X" discounts do not enter into it. Every Perfect Order card and sealed product page linked from the set page, which leaves out code cards, shows the TCGplayer market price, its price history, the price that counts as 12 percent below market (as of October 8, 2026, not where the market is under $5, more than 10 percent above TCGplayer's highest listing or more than 25 percent above its middle listing), and buttons that open eBay's own search results filtered to Buy It Now listings from US sellers, with proxies, lots and code cards excluded, sorted by price plus shipping. Since September 23, 2026, the block below lists the best-scored of this set's eBay listings that are matched and scored at least 12 percent under market; if the site's eBay scan were off, it would show eBay searches for the set's main sealed products instead.

For sealed, compare landed price with the TCGplayer market price for the exact product. Shipping and tax decide whether a box is a deal; a $175 box with $15 shipping is not cheaper than a $185 box shipped free. The price cap in the eBay search applies to the item price, so add shipping yourself before you decide. For singles, check the condition descriptor. Card prices on the site are Near Mint prices, so a low price may simply be a played copy, and since October 8, 2026 the Deal Score scores only a card listing stated as Near Mint: a Lightly Played Meowth ex SIR, or one whose listing states no condition, gets no Deal Score. Perfect Order has the highest box EV ratio of the four small Mega sets, and its box still holds under half of its sealed price in cards.
