What it costs to complete a Pokémon set, Scarlet & Violet to Mega

The short version

Prices in this guide are TCGplayer market values as of September 28, 2026. At those prices, one copy of every card cost between about $440, for Journey Together, and about $4,950, for Ascended Heroes, across the 22 English Scarlet & Violet and Mega Evolution sets in the tables below, with a median of about $1,215. Very little of that was the numbered set, the cards whose collector number sits at or below the total printed on the card: it cost between about $14 and $90 in each of the 22. The cards numbered past the printed total made up at least 87 percent of every one of those totals, and more than 95 percent in 18 of them.

"One of every card" here means one copy of each card at the single price the site shows for it. It is not a master set, which would count every printing of every card. Adding every printing the site prices raised the total by a median of about 3 percent and by about 25 percent in Black Bolt and White Flare, and even that larger sum is a floor, because the catalog does not hold every special printing separately. The single most valuable card took a median of about a fifth of its set's total, and 61 percent in Phantasmal Flames, while about 69 percent of all the priced cards in the 22 sets had a market price under $1.

How the totals are built

Each total adds one copy of every priced card in the set at its headline price, the figure on the card's own page. The site keeps one price per card: a Common, Uncommon or Rare is valued at its regular printing and anything rarer at its holo, and a special foil pattern such as a Poké Ball or Master Ball reverse never stands in for the card. The methodology page sets out the rule. Every price is for a raw, ungraded Near Mint copy.

Each total then splits three ways by collector number:

• Numbered set: cards numbered at or below the printed total, the figure after the slash.
• Past the printed total: cards numbered above it. Mega Charizard X ex is number 125 in a set whose printed total is 94, so it counts here. The sets list shows a similar split, as numbered and secret cards, but by count rather than by collector number, so its figures can differ slightly, as they do for Black Bolt.
• Other: cards that fit neither, because the number is not plain digits or the catalog holds no printed total for the set. None of the 22 sets in the tables has any, so for them the first two parts add up to the whole. Only the two 30th Celebration listings, covered further down, do.

Cards with no market price are left out of every figure. Three listings have them: in Black Bolt it is one Common, Antique Cover Fossil #60; in 30th Celebration it is Mew #R and Mew #B, two of its three RGB Rares; and in its Classic Collection it is a second catalog entry for Palkia LV.X #106, whose other entry is priced and counted. All three totals are floors, and 30th Celebration's is the one where the missing cards could matter. Every total is also the cards alone: it leaves out shipping, and buying a set one card at a time can mean many orders.

The card lists on the set pages show what sits on each side of the line. In Paldea Evolved and Stellar Crown, for example, the Double Rares, the regular ex cards, are inside the numbered set, and every card past the printed total is an Illustration Rare, Ultra Rare, Special Illustration Rare or Hyper Rare.

One of every card, set by set

The first table lists the 22 sets in release order, from Scarlet & Violet (March 2023) to Pitch Black (July 2026). Three other listings are covered separately below: 30th Celebration, its Classic Collection and Scarlet & Violet Energies. The last column is the share of each total's cost held by the cards past the printed total. No card in these 22 sets falls in the other group, so the rest of each total is the numbered set.

Taken together, one of every card in all 22 sets came to about $36,430.

Where the money sits

The numbered set was the small part everywhere. It ran from about $14 in Chaos Rising, Pitch Black and White Flare to about $90 in Temporal Forces, with a median near $38. In Black Bolt and White Flare it was about $15 and $14 against totals of about $3,426 and $3,064, under half a percent of each. The numbered set's largest share was in Obsidian Flames, about $58 of $446, or 13 percent.

The second table gives each set's most valuable card and its share of the total, the priced cards under $1, and the every-printing total discussed below.

In the 22 sets, the single dearest card took between 8 and 61 percent of a set's total, with a median of about a fifth. Four sets had the smallest top-card share, 8 to 10 percent: Temporal Forces, Shrouded Fable, Scarlet & Violet and Paradox Rift. In Temporal Forces, Gastly at about $98 headed a total of about $1,212. In the most expensive set, the top card's share sat near the median: in Ascended Heroes, Pikachu ex at about $945 was 19 percent of about $4,949.

Phantasmal Flames is the other extreme. Mega Charizard X ex at about $679 was 61 percent of about $1,115, and the other 129 priced cards together came to about $436. Six sets had a top card worth a quarter of the total or more: Phantasmal Flames, Paldean Fates (Mew ex, 34 percent), Prismatic Evolutions (Umbreon ex at about $1,384, 29 percent), Chaos Rising, Pitch Black and Twilight Masquerade. That concentration also sets how far one price change moves a total. A 10 percent change in the price of Mega Charizard X ex would move Phantasmal Flames' total by about $68; the same change in Gastly would move Temporal Forces' total by about $10.

At the other end of each set, most cards cost very little. Across the 22 sets, 3,032 of 4,394 priced cards, about 69 percent, had a market price under $1. In 18 of the sets at least two cards in three were under $1, with Obsidian Flames and Journey Together highest at about 82 percent. The four below that mark are Shrouded Fable (about 62 percent), Black Bolt and White Flare (about half each) and Paldean Fates, where 95 of 245 cards, about 39 percent, were under $1.

Every priced printing is a floor, not a master set

Many cards come in more than one printing, such as a regular card and a reverse holo, and some sets add pattern foils. The every-priced-printing figure adds one copy of every printing the site holds a TCGplayer price for. Across the 22 sets it came to about $39,560, against about $36,430 for one of every card.

The median addition was about 3 percent; counted in dollars, the median was about $42. Outside three sets it ran from under 1 percent in Paldean Fates to about 12 percent in Obsidian Flames. The three are Black Bolt (about $858 more, 25 percent), White Flare (about $762, 25 percent) and Prismatic Evolutions (about $676, 14 percent), and they were the sets in the table for which the catalog priced Poké Ball and Master Ball pattern foils as printings of their own. Ascended Heroes carried Energy Symbol pattern printings instead, and its addition was about 2 percent, or about $98.

The catalog can lack a special printing, or fold one that TCGplayer names another way into the card's ordinary reverse holo, so this figure is a floor under what every printing of a set would cost, and never a master set price. Each set page links a Checklist that lists the printings the site prices, card by card, with this total near the top, and that page says itself that it is not a master set list. Its one-of-each figure takes each card's cheapest printing rather than its headline price, so it can sit a little below the first table's figure.

Three listings outside the tables

30th Celebration (set page) is an anniversary expansion in the Mega Evolution series, released in September 2026. It sits outside the tables because its most valuable card falls in the other group. One of every priced card came to about $4,819: about $94 for the numbered set, about $1,100 past the printed total and about $3,625 in the other group, all of it one card, Mew #G. That one card was 75 percent of the priced total, and the other 158 priced cards came to about $1,194. The two cards with no market price are Mew #R and Mew #B, the other two RGB Rares beside Mew #G, so this total leaves out two cards of the same rarity as its dearest card and is a floor, not an estimate of the full cost. The catalog prices one printing per card in this set, so the every-printing figure is the same $4,819, and 92 of the 159 priced cards were under $1. 30th Celebration: Classic Collection (set page) is the run of reprints that comes inside 30th Celebration packs, which the site files as a set of its own. The catalog holds no printed total for it, so all 30 priced cards fall in the other group. One of each came to about $1,214, led by Lugia at about $369, 30 percent of the total. No card in it was under $1, and its one entry with no market price is the second catalog entry for Palkia LV.X #106 mentioned above.

Scarlet & Violet Energies (set page) is 24 Energy cards. One of each cost about $3.60 and every one was under $1; all 48 priced printings came to about $14.96.

One set, live

The block below reads Phantasmal Flames from the live catalog and changes with each daily price refresh: cards priced, the median card, the count at $10 or more and the most valuable card.

It does not show the one-of-every-card total. The set page's "One of everything" figure does, for every set, and on the day these figures were taken it read $1,115 for Phantasmal Flames, the figure in the first table.

What the totals leave out

Condition. Every figure is for a Near Mint copy. The site's working factors, which it uses to score eBay listings, put a Lightly Played copy at 0.85 of the Near Mint price, Moderately Played at 0.70 and Heavily Played at 0.50. They are the site's own factors, not a TCGplayer publication, and the condition guide explains the grades.

Graded copies. The totals cover raw cards only. A graded copy trades in a market of its own, which these figures do not measure.

Sealed product. The sealed EV board answers a different question: what the cards in a sealed product are worth on average, duplicates included. A set total counts each card once, so the two figures do not compare directly, and the chance of pulling any one card depends on its tier's odds, not on its price.

Buying below market. A card priced at $5 or more usually has two eBay buttons for raw copies: the first opens eBay's own search results for Buy It Now listings from US sellers, capped at 12 percent under the card's market price before shipping; the second runs the same search without the cap. A card under $5, which is most of the cards in these sets, gets only the uncapped search, and so does a card whose market price sits more than 10 percent above the dearest copy TCGplayer lists. What changes and what stays

Every dollar figure, share and under-$1 count here is a TCGplayer market reading from the date given at the top, and moves with the market. Each set page's "One of everything" figure is the live version of that set's total (the first table's "One of every card" column), its chase card is the live version of the second table's most valuable card, and its Checklist carries the every-printing total. The Phantasmal Flames block above shows that set's top card and priced count. The numbered-set costs, shares and under-$1 counts have no live version. A card that gains a market price joins its set's total: if Mew #R and Mew #B gain one, 30th Celebration's total and Mew #G's share will change.

Card lists, collector numbers, printed totals and release months are fixed facts of each set; only a correction to the card catalog would change them. The every-printing floor rises if the catalog adds or tells apart a printing it does not yet count, and every total would shift if the site changed which printing stands for a card. One of every card in the 22 Scarlet & Violet and Mega Evolution sets in the tables cost from about $440 (Journey Together) to about $4,950 (Ascended Heroes).
